DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Piccadilly unveils sustainable makeover

DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Piccadilly, which is managed by global hotel management company Valor Hospitality, has unveiled a full refurbishment of all 285 bedrooms as well as hotel corridors.

The work, which started in July 2023, set out to give the rooms a more modern feel, while focusing on limiting the impact it would have on the environment. The hotel worked closely with partners to minimise wastage, diverting 69.85 tonnes from landfill, while also donating televisions to longstanding charity partner, Embassy Village. For several years, the hotel has worked with Embassy Village, engaging in fundraising activities and hiring team members from the Manchester homelessness charity.

As well as items being donated to charity, 54 tonnes of furniture has been reused within the hospitality industry, by working with The Hotel Clearance Company. The wardrobes and mini bar units were fitted with new tops and reused in situ, with carpet and underlay recycled to be donated as pet bedding.

The design work was carried out by ABDA Design, who leant on Manchester's rich industrial history to create a visually pleasing design, focusing on a colour palette of blue, yellow, and orange.
